Can You Turn Fat Into Muscle

September 28, 2019  |  By Digg Deep Fitness & Nutrition
can you turn fat into muscle

I’ve heard this statement hundreds of times.⁣
⁣
The person will hold their arm up, jiggle it, and tell me they want to turn their fat into muscle.⁣
⁣
I just want to make sure we’re clear…⁣
⁣
You cannot turn fat into muscle. They are two different things.⁣
⁣
There’s fat. And there’s muscle.⁣
⁣

Fat covers your muscle.⁣
⁣
If you’re carrying a high percentage of body fat, or if you are in a healthy weight range, but just want to see more muscle definition, you have to LOSE the fat.⁣
⁣
The classic case is when someone wants to perform an arm workout to get rid of the fat on their arms. Those exercises help build the muscle, but what about the fat?

You can kill yourself in the gym, lifting weights, performing cardio, going three to five days a week, and you could still NEVER see the definition you want.⁣
⁣
You could actually gain more muscle and get bigger!⁣
⁣
Why?⁣
⁣
You gotta LOSE the fat to uncover the muscle.⁣
⁣
Here’s the answer you don’t want to hear…. it all comes down to FOOD.⁣
⁣
It always comes down to food. Always.⁣
⁣
Your food intake is the biggest indicator of how you look and feel.⁣
⁣
To lose fat, you need to be in a caloric deficit and eat less calories than your body needs to maintain its current size.⁣
⁣
Guess what…⁣
⁣
If you don’t reduce your calories and still lift weights, you run the risk of gaining muscle and KEEPING the fat. Then, you may start to look “bulky” because you’ll be bigger and still not have any muscle definition.⁣
⁣
So, if you’re wanting to lose fat to see more muscle definition, you need to focus on your food intake! ⁣
