Monday Motivation: Just Do It

September 8, 2014  |  By Joy Diggs
This posting is dedicated to my Nike FlyKnit sneakers that were gifted to me by Six:02, a women’s fitness apparel store located in Memorial City Mall and other cities around the country.

(HUGE THANK YOU TO SIX:02!)

For some reason, when I work out in these shoes, I step my game up a little bit. I run a little faster, work out a little harder, and push myself a little more outside of my comfort zone. But, enough about the shoes. This posting is more about Nike’s slogan: Just Do It. I never really stopped and thought about it, but this slogan actually epitomizes everything we need to know about being successful with ANY goal. It makes me think about those of us who sit around and dream about things we want to achieve but never try to do. It also makes me think about those of us who actually plan out our dreams, but we still never really put that plan into action. Lately, I’ve noticed that I fall into that second group. I’ve always been a planner by nature, but lately, I’ve been falling short on my action steps. I procrastinate and put things off for another day, only for them to be put off again when that day comes. And the way time is ticking, we really can’t afford to put ANYTHING off for tomorrow. We need to just do it. Period. Many of us get caught up in the planning stages. But no matter how well you plan, unless you take action, it really doesn’t make a difference. So, the thought for this week is JUST DO IT. There are less than four months left of this year. How do you want to finish off 2014? Pick a couple goals you want to work towards, make a plan on how to get closer to those goals, and then, most importantly, put the plan into action. Do not procrastinate. Just do it.
