Digg Deep Fitness was created by personal trainer and registered dietitian Joy Diggs. Growing up active in team sports, Joy developed an interest in health and the human body. As a senior in high school, she decided to participate in a research study to earn extra money. The study tested the effects of a low-fat diet on metabolism. She was given the exact foods to eat for a week, which was a big change from her normal diet of hot pockets and soul food. That week changed her life. She could feel a difference after eating the healthy food, so she committed to sticking to it for good. The passion was born.
Wanting to help other people make health a priority, she attended University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, receiving a B.A. in Exercise and Sport Science. She then continued her education by completing a Masters of Science in Nutrition at Georgia State University. Soon after graduate school, Joy completed a dietetic internship at The Ohio State University and became a registered dietitian. She is also a certified personal trainer and certified weight loss specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She has combined this knowledge to impact the lives of her clients, stressing the importance of proper nutrition and regular exercise. Joy's personal belief is that health is a lifestyle that begins every morning when we wake up. The choices we make throughout the day help to determine the quality of life that we will lead.
Joy enjoys pushing her clients to become their best, helping them remove limitations and boundaries. DIGG DEEP is about pushing through comfort zones, overcoming obstacles and barriers, and leaving ourselves completely open to becoming our best selves. Her goal is to challenge you to dream big and then support you as you work together to achieve it!
